Bowling Green – Bobby Houk, 94, of Bowling Green, passed away on November 19. Bobby was born on September 10, 1930, to Hurschel and Mary (Richardson) Houk in Sonora.
Bobby graduated from Sonora High School in 1948. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in May 1951 and served his country in Korea until his honorable discharge as Sergeant First Class in March 1953. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1957.
After college, Bobby returned to Sonora where he taught and coached from 1957 until 1959. He returned to Bowling Green to teach mathematics at College High in 1959, where he remained until the school closed in 1970.
Although he may be best remembered by his students for his teaching, he continued his long career at Western in positions in Public Safety and as Manager of Ticket Sales until his retirement in 1993. He remained an avid Hilltoppers fan until his final days.
Bobby is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Billie, Jackie and Tod, and his sister Jennie. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Breedon, his son-in-law David Breedon, his son Brent Houk, his daughter-in-law Christine Houk, and his two grandchildren, Madeleine and Benjamin Houk. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at the W Club Room at Diddle Arena on Sunday, December 29, from 1:00 to 2:30. Eulogy will be delivered at 2:30.
