Joyce Ann Rapier DeBusk, age 84, of Corbin, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Pineville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Steeley Coyt Rapier, Sr. and Geneva Cox Rapier.
Joyce was a beacon of love and thoughtfulness, illuminating the lives of those around her. A founding member of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in 1997, she was more than just a member of her church, she was a pillar, a testament to her unwavering faith and passionate dedication. Her devotion was not limited to her faith; it was beautifully mirrored in her love for her family. As a loving mother and grandmother, she nurtured her family with nothing short of absolute love, a love so profound that it became the very essence of Joyce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Stanley DeBusk, Sr.; son, John Stanley DeBusk, Jr.; son-in-law, Randy Steely; and siblings, Alma Shelby, Betty Jackson, Lorraine Miller, Ollie Lowe, Mary Finch, Judy Mae Rapier, Donna Hall, and Billie Jo Brison.
She is survived by three daughters, Therese DeBusk Steely, Katherine DeBusk Adams and husband Walter, and Monica DeBusk Ridener and husband Mark; grandchildren, Joyce Steely Caudill and husband Kevin, Benjamin Steely, Faith Steely, John DeBusk III, Katie Ridener, and Samuel Ridener; great-grandchildren, Andrew Caudill, Levi Caudill, Leah Caudill, and Lily Caudill; siblings, Elaine Deemer and Steeley Rapier, Jr.; and by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the funeral home with Bro. Kevin Caudill and Bro. Mark Ridener officiating.
Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Corinth Cemetery in Corbin, KY. Pallbearers will be Walter Adams, Mark Ridener, John DeBusk III, Benjamin Steely, Andrew Caudill, Josh Hunt, Kenneth Faulkner, and Jonathan Meadors. Honorary pallbearers: Samuel Ridener, Levi Caudill, and Tim Johnson.
