Phyllis J. Taylor, 102, of Monticello, IL., passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:35 A.M., at her residence in Monticello.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Bement United Methodist Church, 249 N. Piatt St, Bement. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of services on Friday at the church.. Pastor Naomi Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo Township Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorial contributions can be made to Bement United Methodist Church or Tatman Village, Monticello.
Phyllis was born on November 25, 1922, in Milmine, IL., a daughter of S Max and Elsie Shotts Baker. She married Robert K. Taylor, Sr., on March 2, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA, and he passed away on September 20, 2015.
Surviving are 2 sons, Robert Keith (Jan) Taylor, Jr. of Decatur, IL., and Greg A. (Arlene) Taylor of Avon Park, FL. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kim (Greg) Schneider and Nathan Taylor, as well as great-grandchildren, Mason & Grace Taylor, Elyse (Nick) Denton and Eli Schneider, as well as a sister, Janice Simonton of Cerro Gordo, IL., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Charles Baker.
Phyllis was a member of the Bement United Methodist Church, and a avid golfer. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1970 and taught 5th grade at Lovington Elementary School for over 20 years. She loved the Fighting Illini and dressing up in orange and blue, but her greatest love was spending time with family and going to all the many activities.
